Curriculum
At Waterville Primary School we provide our children with a broad and balanced curriculum. Our exciting curriculum provides the knowledge and skills our children need to succeed in life. Our curriculum ensures that children move onto the next step in their education with confidence and an eagerness to continue learning.

Within the Early Years (Nursery and Reception) we follow the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2).
In Years 1 to Year 6 we follow the National Curriculum (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-curriculum-in-england-primary-curriculum). We teach our children the importance of good learning behaviours in order for them to become learners for life. We also incorporate our RESPECT values and have a strong emphasis on personal development. Our school motto is 'Being the best you can be.'
At Waterville Primary School we're teaching every child to read with our Read, Write Inc phonics programme.

Our termly learning is enhanced by educational visits and visitors to school. This broadens our curriculum and incorporates key features of our surrounding school community which includes the North Shields Fish Quay, the coastal region and River Tyne areas.
